As always, excellent write up Steve. Thank you for being articulate in your words to describe what you are experiencing with the Manticore. My friend has a Manticore and has shared very similar experiences. However, as soon as he updated the software (which includes the new “stabilizer”) iron falsing and chatter was severely reduced. I understand you haven’t downloaded the software and have not

To anyone that has an answer: Where is the setting to enable / disable polyphonic audio feature? Is it enabled by default or is this something the user needs to manually turn On? Is there a special type of headphone to hear the multiple tones better? Thank you.

Mike,
You are doing extremely well with the Manticore. That 1870's school house is giving up some wonderful old coins and you merely scratched the surface of this site. I can hardly wait to see what else you unearth!!

TomD,
Comparison Question 600/800 Vs 700/900 sensitivity: Are the 700/900 models equivalent in sensitivity to the 600/800 number for number? For example, a sensitivity level of 20 on the 700/900 equivalent to the 600/800 at the same level?
I took the 900 out yesterday on its maiden voyage to an early 1900's playground that I have beaten with the 800... I can say, I am extremely impre

TomD,
I have another question for you concerning the Equinox 700/900. You mention the FE-0 on the 700/900 is a bit more aggressive then the 600/800.
If a FE setting of '1' on the700/900 would be the closest to F2 = 0 ( -1) on the old EQX 800, what does a setting of FE-0 on the 700/900 equate too? How much l"lower" does the iron bias drop past -1?
I appreciate anythin

Tom,
Q1 - Would there ever be good reason to use dp audio for inland hunting such as parks, woods and fields or is this dp mode included on the 900 for wet-salt beach hunting?
Q2 - Where do the parallels end and at what point does the "trump card" of the Manticore "kick in" ?
I appreciate your time - Jim

Don’t give him the satisfaction. He already got himself banned off another detector site and now he’s working on people over here. Please stay and allow the moderators to take out the trash.

Super informative video! Interesting how increasing the recovery speed helped “knock out” the nails and helped the manticore to focus more on the non-ferrous (IH cent)

I’m talking in general. How to make iron sound like iron and not a non-ferrous target. Whether I was in “all-metal” or disc mode on the equinox, iron objects gave an iron tone / grunt.
It sounds like on the Manticore if no disc is used, iron sounds like a non-ferrous target. - Jim

Thank you Tom. What would be the correct settings / adjustments to make nails and misc iron junk sound like iron grunts?
My thoughts are to run the Manticore wide open (no disc) like I did with the Equinox. I appreciate all your time and help. - Jim

I haven't received my Manticore yet and have a question: Can the Manticore be setup to run in all-metal or zero discrimination where I hear iron tones like the Equinox? Thank you for your time. - Jim

Way to go Mike! Both the IH and seated dime are in beautiful condition!! When I saw that 2D trace strike like lightening to the non-ferrous line, I had a strong feeling good things were going to be unearthed. - Jim

Question for TomD:
On the Equinox 900 max sensitivity is 28. Is this an extra "punch'" or "boost" in sensitivity? Or is it equal to the sensitivity of the 700 with finer tuning? What is the thought or premise behind this 3 point jump on the 900? Thank you - Jim

Tom,
I have never GB'd in multi-frequency when I changed TRR speed but I will start this hunting season. What seems like such "small adjustments / increments" in TRR speed truly adds up to depth loss.
I am learning and understanding more concerning TRR speed. Thank you. Not only we are dealing with depth increase or loss based on adjustment, but also the ability to adjust TR

I find with a recovery of 2 there seems to be a "lag" between the time a scan over a target and hear the audio. No matter coil scan speed, I can not get the two to "line up"
I used a recovery of 3 several times last year and this seems the lowest I can go where things "line up" for me. Utilizing a recovery of 3 is my plan this year.
To answer your question, I
