That sounds promising, Rick.
I suspected as much, in that, it does not have the detection "hole" that the GPX does. I'm not even sure that is the reason why the GPX can't see some types of nugs...but I suspect that to be the case. Thanks again!

Will the land version have the same discrimination ability as the beach version?
Also, one of the most impressive things about the GPZ7000 over the GPX is the type of gold the GPZ can "see" vs. the GPX. Old patches that have been hammered by a GPX come alive when a GPZ is swung over them. The difference is that the gold found with the GPZ is "pourous" or non-continuous spec

People who claim to be "Centrists/Moderates"....are, in most cases, anything but. In my experience, they lean way to the left. Same with the wishy-washy "Independents".

I killed a elk and a deer this last fall. Seems like I'm about the only guy around with any ground meat. Been giving some to my staff and neighbors. It's good to be a hunter right now. Just made a big pot of elk green chili to take on a nugget hunting trip to the Quartzite, Az area this Thursday-Sunday! Talk about social distancing! Camping way out in the Mojave Desert is about as dista

So, if you (any member here) were to find this treasure chest would you tell any body that you found it? Lots of baggage comes with this find... publicity, taxes, etc.
Personally, I think I would stay quiet. Makes me wonder if it's already been found and the finder has been mute?

Nope.
If EMI is too much in my chosen gold field (power lines) I switch to a DD coil (8" Detech). Much better EMI mitigation. I understand that he is talking EMI affecting the control box but switching from a mono coil to DD helps immensely. Being a very experienced GPX user, I tend to run it on the jagged edge anyway...which is a bit noisey. That being said, a metallic target still jumps

I'm sure that the X is a very capable unit. I'm just not in to the "retro" thing. I like state of the art tech.
My sister-in-law wants to buy one of those retro " canned ham" travel trailers. It's driving my brother nuts. You get none of the modern day "state of the art" amenities for the same price as a modern trailer. I don't get it , personall

Look up "state of the art' definition. In terms of detecting in the modern day state of the art would include things like wireless (everything), update able, program-able, gps, clock, etc. Not to be confused with "capable". The X certainly seems capable although not state of the art.

I will not watch videos where the intro... music, past finds, etc.....is as long as the current video. Please stop with the boring, non relevant, intro crap! Waste of my time!
Get to the video. Some guys think that they are producing a major motion picture or something.
I agree with what was stated previously- I like to hear the target as well...a couple of swings only...not five minutes of s

Expensive indeed. I can't imagine anybody purposely throwing away their detector, although, there have been a couple of machines I was tempted to wrap around the nearest tree! I believe the first two were lost. The burned one may have quit working so they decided to use it as firewood. This past winter a guy camped near us found a back pack containing a bunch of small baggies filled with Met

Arkeologist-
I understand what you're saying about the nuances of " beep and dig" tonal variation. I've swung a GPX for many years hunting nuggets and have become very good at distinguishing iron trash from nuggets....out in the gold fields though, I dig it all.
Thanks Tom. The only time I've swung a Tesoro was way back before PI tech while nugget shooting. I hated it

Why do you think this? Is the Tesoro "better" than others in some way at finding gold rings? Or, do you swing it more and, therefore, that just happened to be the detector in hand when you got the coil over a gold ring? Or, is it because it's only a beep and dig machine so it forces you to dig all non ferrous targets and you are not letting VDI numbers " talk you out of diggin

Gerry at Gerry's Detectors basically does this "mod" on an X-Terra 705 in this YouTube video - Minelab X-Terra 705 settings for hunting jewelry.
At first glance you would think that the 705 must be the greatest gold ring hunter on the planet and that it can tell gold from aluminum. Nothing more than some notching. On machines with assignable tones you could even have the un-rege

If this mod could tell gold from aluminum it would be selling like hot cakes to this day. Most everyone on this forum would have (or want) this modded machine and it would be pricey. So why, if it works as well as claimed, isn't everyone knocking NASA Tom's door down to get one or have one modded? Doesn't seem like there are many of them. Why? Why didn't the manufacturer of
