Hi Tom,

I have a couple of proposals, let's see what you think.

1.- The fact that the Manty's screen is color may be one of the reasons why the battery lasts significantly less than in the Equinox. Have you considered the possibility of creating a dark mode, or a screen mode that darkens and only leaves the fundamental elements in black and white, or that can be turned off and on with a double tap of, for example, pinpoint mode?

This could be superior in power saving!

2.- Would it be possible to implement a mineralization meter on the screen?

Thank you very much for all the information you give us!

Airtemisa.

airtemisa.......... The lighted screen of the Manticore ....does consume some power; yet, not that much. The user does have the option to change the lighting intensity.....(to include: OFF) in multiple increments. As far as the illuminated COLOR screen portion; yes, this is what consumes the most battery power .... specifically in the arena of 'illuminated screen'; yet, once again........ the power consumption is somewhat minimal.,.,.,.,., compared to the rest of the units operating parameters.

Your request for a 'mineralization' gauge...... is HIGHLY noted!!!........and by/with multiple requests.

(((The detector with the LEAST requests for a Fe3O4 mineralization gauge....... is the Tarsacci. , . , . , . , . , and for good reason))).

Last version gave owners this capability as far as backlight use. Where backlight can be shifted on the fly using soft key setup.

Few videos here using All Terrain Low Conductors with Custom Upper ferrous limits.
Folks may want to try this. So far use of stock coil looks very promising.
I did test this in site dates back to 1779_ Iron Galore.
you'll get to see me sweeping in this site monitoring Manticore audio and screen.
This ups ones odds depending while detecting. Basically one could walk behind lot of detectorists using numerous models and strike i.e lot of single freq models. and multi freq models too like Legend, DEus 2. Equinox models.

enjoy the videos.
NASA Tom may weigh in here.

Hi,

I have had the Manticore for a bit. Heading to the Caribbean for a few weeks to unearth some gold jewelry. I usually use an Excalibur II but I'd like to bring the Manticore. We mostly work in the water up to 4 feet and not on the sand. Other than Sand & Surf, does anyone have any other setting recommendations they would share?

Thanks

We found in in deep testing that sand and surf was good on gold. In theory, this should be your weakest mode for gold. We have Black Sand where I hunt.
So make sure to test some fringe gold and see what modes works the best on the beaches you are looking on.
The Manticore is a chain killer too!!!

Josh....... I assume you are using the 11" coil. (This makes a huge difference in what settings to use).

IN the water (w/11" coil) you can get away with the following settings:

Beach = General
Recovery Speed = 4
Audio = Prospecting
Ground Balance the unit over some water.,.,.,.,., about 2-feet deep of water. , . , . , . , . with the coil bobbing method ABOVE the water (not "IN" the water).
Volume = 25
Iron Volume = 25
Ferrous Limits - Upper = 5
Ferrous Limits - Lower = 3
Notch nothing! Bring in the iron. (Don't allow for 'ghost' signals).

Sensitivity is going to be your 'variable'. Run the Sens as high as you can IN the water.,.,.,.,., at a level that you can understand/handle. This may be around Sens 22.

Tom, is your land settings similar to this. I don't have the Manticore but I like to see settings used. Just in case I do get one.

Thanks Tom,

Yes, an 11" coil. I am curious as to why you like beach general preferred over Sand and Surf.

I have been detecting for many years and I find it funny that no matter the amazing tech on detectors, I also don't notch either. On the Excalibur I run the disc at 1.

Again, I appreciate your guidance and help.

Count me in too. Beach General was the worst mode we tested on fringe gold.

Sure.

Beach - Low Conductors is the MOST sensitive to gold (especially chains // small gold). Beach - Low Conductors is ALSO the MOST sensitive to the wet-salt.
Beach - Deep Mode is the deepest Mode to/for coins....... in a wet-salt environment.
Beach - Surf/Seawater Mode is the least sensitive to gold & wet-salt; yet, presents the greatest stability.
Beach - General is the 2nd highest "sensitive to gold" setting. , . , . , . , . , . and............ under certain circumstances; may be used IN the water..........with a few 'beware' mild precautions.

If you are wanting to NOT use Beach - Seawater Mode whilst IN the ocean.......... I recommend trying Beach - General Mode. Use your Sens control.....to ascertain the best stability.

Yes....... my Manticore Inland settings.......are quite different to my Beach settings.

Mode
Ferrous Limits (Upper & Lower)
Tone selection
Recovery Speed

........... are all different for Inland hunting.

@NASA-TOM. SUBJECT: Specific salt beach settings for “Beach - High Conductors”

I searched this topic but could not find any specific suggestions. (I already have Toms settings for Beach Low Conductors and in above post Tom, you mention high conductor mode in wet salt offers deepest mode for silver coins. Also find lead at these beaches also in the way of lead seals, musket balls and antique sounding weights and fishing weights)

Some beaches have rusted iron flakes from sand pumping pipes and wrecks.

Any suggested settings for Beach High Conductors in wet salt?
Does damp salt sand need a different mode?
The dry area of the beach, I use an inland mode.

Thanks Tom and everyone
Re: MINELAB MANTICORE: DATA & PERFORMANCE

All settings remain the same..... EXCEPT:

Beach Mode - Salt/Seawater Mode
The unit will Grnd Balance to the wet salt at a different point.
Keep Response Speed on 4 ...for the wet salt.
I would still always recommend Prospecting audio in the wet salt....for best allowability of higher/highest Sens settings.

Yes...... in dry sand...... I never use any beach settings. Always inland/All-Terrain settings.
