Thanks everyone, I am mending day by day. Still no where near walking with out assistance but it does get better. I really look forward to Physical Therapy it helps and I have a great PT therapist. Please keep posting all the good reads. Just because I can't get in the dirt does not mean I do not love reading about it. Best detector site in the world. :-)

Not gone forever just gone till I can get my leg back in the dirt. I am working on this but it will take time. Also after using a Deus I think that may be in my future or what ever they have like it when I am ready again.
Just wish me a Rapid Recovery. Doctor says maybe 18 months.

Ok on a practical basis I am out for the count for a long while when it comes to detecting. But being the optimist I am that day will come again. So since I have time my question is what will be the Next big thing in detecting? Most of what I see is just refinements of technology that has been around for a long time. Better audio better separation, better iron discrimination, Marginaly better d

Ok in keeping with the forum. - Metal Detecting is often thought to be a very passive activity. - picture some walking down a beach headphones on swinging a detector. A walk in the park. But if you want to learn and find things you have to dig and that is not passive - it takes work and energy. For me the ability to get down and dig is not likely for a long while. But beach detecting may be somet

Ok been very focused on Physical Therapy the Last 6 weeks. Good news is I get to start working on walking - which is huge 3 months is a long time to not even put wait on my leg. It is going to be long uphill battle just to get to walking with a cane but Dr and Physical Theripist are confident I will get there.
Now the bad news. - my likely hood of being able to get back in the dirt is not so

Thanks everyone. - make very aware how important mobility is to enjoying your life - at least my life. I am ok. - I joked with my rescuers and realize it was an accident and it could of be worse. So I always try to look on bright side.
Lawrenzo I agree Racer is a good machine. I really like the Deus as well. And T2 is Great and what's not to like about the MXT. . I do think I will down

If it's a passion it's a way of life. If it's something you like to do now and then it is a hobby. Motorcycles and detecting are a passion. Golf is a hobby.

Well I just got back from my first vacation of the year and my Moms funeral in Colorado. The day before the funeral my son and his girlfriend along with my daughter husband and two grand kids went to Telluride Colorado. I had been using a borrowed XP Deus. - which I really like - wanted to see how it worked in gold country. Any way my son decided to ride some of the groomed mountain bike trails

What if someone reversed engineered the Natalius - upgraded the components keep it analog and maybe simplify it I have watched some videos and it does seem to have a learning curve to getting it set up correctly. Just a thought.

I like taking trips and the Ural is good for that lots of storage. I would also like to take a detector along. The XP deus would be perfect for traveling. Ural would be a great ghosh town Hunter. Paired with Deus and my camping gear. Wish I was back in Colorado. I am keeping fingers crossed may have a chance for job transfer back to Denver.

Ok - is not a pulse machine with the ability to tone ID ferrous and Non Ferous. Getting close assuming it has the depth.. It ignores the ground matrix better and has potential for greater depth. Just need real target ID a nail from a nickel at full depth. Like you said this is an open field machine. Oh an let's make it good to ten feet in water. Keep coil no more then 10 want ground cove

Yea it is great for hauling my detecting gear, It is a lot of fun and it matches my T2 detector which is green. Everywhere I go with it I get stopped and asked questions. It is a great ambassador and opens doors everywhere. The best part as I ride I can see people smile. How many things can you do that make people smile. I love that part.

My significant rides also has a chopper.
A Russian Sidecar is a sidecar rig made in Russia and imported to US - brand name Ural.
Maybe this Video will help.
Now all I need is one of those Russian designed Metal Detectors

I tend to watch for a specific detector I sample a lot and but watch very few from start to finish. I watch like I read for content. No content of value no read or watch. There are lots of good stuff to watch just need to hunt a little to find it other then the previously mentioned names. Those are all good

So Racer is growing on you. I have a Deus on Lone and will be doing a lot of Racer vs Deus - will not really competition just learning how each performs. I have good headphones for the Racer now and will work on picking up on the nuances that others are having so much luck with once they master them.

Yes - true I should of said electric field. But my basic thoughts are correct in that if far enough away from interference should be no difference between verticals or horizontal. Also good point on the RFI polarization - suspect it has a lot to do with what Keith observed Thanks.
