I had one and it seemed the 12AAs under the arm cup made it balance nice though and the battery life lasts forever it seemed so the cost in long run not much more than the two 2 volts. I would just leave it as not many those left as only made them that way a year or two I believe so kind of a collector item now.

Tom since the Manticore and Equinox came out they make your list? What about the CZ-3D it still in your line up at all just curious as some consider it old tech.

I believe the Manticore has the Etrac type modulation too and it adjustable also not so on the Nox.
I thought on a updatable detector like the Nox they could update it with a modulation adjustment?

Yep IRS will always get theirs. You can not even sell your own stuff on eBay over 600.00 without getting a 1099. I mean why should I have to pay taxes on something twice never got that unless you have a receipt showing you did not make a profit on it. But who has a receipt on a collectable you bought 20 years ago?

Those little Tesoro's just find keepers period. Great little detectors and a joy to swing all with just one 9 volt that lasts forever it seems.

Yes but you get a good one 'aka' 12" on dime one and it like a regular CZ on steroids in my moderate ground anyway just as deep coil for coil as Explorer or Etrac.

It balances nice though with those 12 AAs and last forever as you well know and where I live you can get double AA cheaper actually at Aldi any way generic alkalines too as heavy duty are crap. I sold the last one I had to Dan,PA as he liked the balance also, I miss Ole' Dan.

Lastly didn't Dave Johnson have a hand in the Troy Shadow X5? It seems I heard that somewhere or maybe because it was assembled by Fisher?

Ole' Keith Southern liked the Shadow X5 he said it was one of few higher freq. detectors that was just as hot on high conductors as the lower ones. Maybe he will read this and chime in as he has a lot of time on them too.

I had a Troy X5 the build quality was the best and only one 9 volt a joy to swing and deep in the right area. At the time needed a ID detector for trashy old parks I was hunting and could not afford two detectors. I always hoped he would come out with a ID machine. There were rumors about an X6 for awhile but never came to be for one reason or another.
Troy was a great guy too always had time t
