OMG blast from the past.
MRH I'm meeting up with a friend today and will get a chance to try out the MMK. I'm curious how well they invoked the 5 Khz frequency and its usefulness for deep high conductors in garbage dump type trash. My Musketeer is getting long in the tooth and a bit tired. Need to find someone to tune it.
Everyone is waiting for the Manta...not me. I want/nee

Have any been wrapped around a tree yet... Coinstrike anyone?
I'm with Rick, for site hunting forget all the bells and whistles, 2 tones IS all you need.
Contrary to what some people post, don't be afraid to use a bit of iron bias if it helps intelligibility at a particular site. It's a big maybe that it will cost you non-ferrous targets. I have not seen anyone claim they

I always ran a threshold on the 705 to hear the blanking of disced out iron but it doesn't have the iron audio that is on the 800. Still I set the threshold on the 800 to just audible and if I want silent turn it down one more notch.

The ID Edge was one I always wanted to have again and I found a closet Queen last year on the bay. Had to fix the cables but not a big deal. Got a 6" coil from Texhunter with the good cable along with a spare 8" and I'm set.
The Id Edge along with the old Fisher 1236-X2 are two of my favorites and have both put the goods in my pouch.

2. X-Terra's 505 & 705 - just brilliant but not very deep-seeking
Just as deep as the F75 in my ground. Mars coils unlock the true potential of the 705. I agree with Craig (detectingmo) that the ML stock coils only cripple the ability of the 705.

Great report Keith. I have been waiting for something better to come along that uses a concentric in the 7" size range and this one looks to finally be "the one" !!

I heard the display shows pretty pictures of coins and jewelry. But you have to use the Mojave to pinpoint because it only give a general location. One of 10 testers claim it works on the right day.
PS: it's not an LRL so get that crazy thought out of your head.

In most if not all lakes in Michigan the property owner owns to the center of the lake (try slicing that pie where the cottage and homes are on 100' lots and lakes are never exactly round).
I have only been approached one time by a landowner to let me know about the law of which I was already aware and gave permission for me to detect as I worked my way on down the lake. Come to find out

I for one will not be holding my breath waiting to see what size gold 7us gets in salt water that other Pi's can't see. My take on the Manta is that it goes deep on rings and that is what most care about. I hunt fresh water only and have dug hundreds of stud earrings and not one diamond. So my question is, is it worth it to chase them in salt? Sure I would like to find a 3ct G color

Cancer takes too many lives, I have lost 2 brothers and a Nephew to it in the last couple of years. The most recent on June 3rd.
My condolences to Keith and his family.

Hi Dew
I'll be 66 next month and the long term effects drag, although I hope not, could end up being an issue for me. I have other VLF's so can switch off if needed.
Haven't tried field 2 but it and the gold modes are next on my list to try . Field 1 is a smooth operator and I hunt some beaches where sawmills and boat works once stood so iron, tin and other black encrusted

Daniel your conditions must be quite different from mine. Here is a post I made recently over on Steve's forum
Nox fresh water settings
regarding the edge sensitivity, in my clear lakes I consider it a bonus. When moving forward at slightly faster than normal pace I was overshooting some fairly deep targets by a foot or more having to backup the coil to get them centered and yes, cen

The NOX puts Yellow gold up high. Found a 8.9 gram 14K that read 20-22 in fresh water. Based on that I will NOT be passing up dime TID's for for fear of passing the big one.
For reference a 10.9 gram 14K white gold ring came in at a solid 16
