I dug a silver looking ring a couple years ago, biggest ring I ever saw. Don't remember the VDI. The mans fingers had to be 1-1/4 inches in diameter, looked like a wedding band. When I got home I showed my wife and said "look at the size of this ring hon, the guy must have been a giant". She said " thats a cloth napkin holder silly". "Oh" I said, "that make

Keith, I checked out that site...had a hard time removing myself from it, neat!! Those storm chasers are high amped. I guess chasing a unpredictable deadly force around the neighborhood gets the glands a workin.
Tri, good site! I always used Accu Weather for the radar, but I will now use; radar.weather.gov......thanks!

The first cut of the hay fields here in PA should be in June. One of the farmers said he would call me when he cuts...great guy, he loves to see the finds. Last week I dug a 1782 Hibernia out of his back yard. I did notice the parks don't cut the grass as often, been like that for the last few years.

Your 3D really smacked that dime,,,, crisp, loud and very clear. Like Lipservice said, 10" + would be no problem for your 3D. Thanks for the video njnydigger.

I do the same as tmanly, 4 tones 0 discrim and max out sens if possible. Dig mid tones and high, glancing at the digitals. Ocasionally, if in bad nails I'll switch to mono, disc 6. I'm after the old coins and relics only, never clad. A deep high tone gives me a bit of a cheap thrill, what can I say. I almost never hunt 2 tone.

Hey Schultzie, thanks for the report. I would very much like to hear on going reports about the V3i if you would.
On this forum you don't get pounced on unless the subject turns to politics or religion, then the gloves come off.

Tom, Does the size of the send and receive coils (amount or volume of wire used), have something to do with; when increasing sens, it's designed to only boost the receive coil? Maybe power consumption?

I wish they would do the tests with the objects seperated by an inch or more and off to the sides or to the back. Then what are the results?

Hey Lorenzo, I'm reading this book called "The Power of Your Subconsious Mind" by Joseph Murphy. One topic in the book talks about how our own subconsious powers can perform miracles of healing oneself. It explains why and how our subconsious works and what its job is. A few jobs it performs are the functions we consiously don't control like; breathing, heart pumping, healing

Going by memory, the upper left corner of the graph are low numbers for iron and conductivity. In other words 1 ferrous and 1 condt are the first coordinate points in the upper left corner. From top to bottom horz, reads ferrous (1 to 30something) and left to right vertically, condt reads (1 to 50???). Upper right coordinates are low ferrous, high condt.
Lower right is high ferrous, low condt. Lo

No Tom, I did not.. I knew you were going to ask me that question. I wasn't doing a real head to head. I was just checking out the SE to see how it would handle the hot rocks. Ive been over that small area many times with the 75 and I would say that pulling 4 silvers in that short time does warrent a h to h comparison. That site has poor growing grass and many areas just have some moss. The

Hello everyone, I have to tell you about my experience with a re-borrowed Explorer SE.
At this particular site sits a old brick one room school house (still standing), not sure of the date but it's on a 1876 map, so at least it's that old. The area is only about 1/2 an acre. I have hunted it a half dozen times with my old f-75 and found only wheats and a few buffs, no silver. The ar

Shambler, I should add to my last sentance; ,caused by the e-trac's freq's interfereing with the f-75s capabilities.
I like your choice of words; anomaly & amiss. All your statements could be true, but, a few times I have called him over and asked him to sweep over a target and he would say it's junk with the E. I would get a squeek of a high tone with the 75 (in a nail l

Thanks All,
I will dig mid tones and will have to work for that gold coin, thats for sure. Many times as a way of thanking and showing my appreciation, I'll offer to do a small carpentry job such as hang a door or replace a window sill, that sort of thing. Most of the time they want to pay me for the job but I tell them they don't realize how much I value their permission to detect on

Farmer - 13 years ago
A couple months ago when there was snow on the ground I was invited to a church breakfast at a rented hall. Breakfast is my favorite meal so I went. It was all young men and old timers and the food was not lacking. As we were chowing down, I over heard a fellow from my table talking about his 55 acre farm, so I asked him a few questions a detectorist would normally ask, like how old is your house

I hunt with a buddy who uses an E-trac. When he does a noise cancel before we detect, I can hear his E changing frequencies through my f-75. Sounds like a rapid fire buz on certain freqs, not all. It finally settels on one that I can't hear. During the hunt, ocassionally he calls me over to ckeck a target, there was never a time when the f-75 couldn't hear one of his targets.

My f-75 picks up the Garrett Pro Pointer when the pinpointer is in the off position and several feet away. When the pointer is turned on, the interference goes away. I have to keep the pointer behind my back in its holder when detecting, and no problems. I also love that pinpointer, it's almost indestructible. Would not hunt without it....it spoils ya.

I'll be 58 this coming May. This hobby is highly addicting. If I don't detect at least 16 hours a week I get cranky. To get projects and chores done around the house I have to talk myself out of going detecting....I say "self, grow up", self says "it's a beautiful day and I'm due for some old silver" I say "ok go ahead, you can do that chore tomorrow,&

Almost sounds like we're from the same neighborhood. We would gather/take/steal our dads almost emty aresol cans, go to the woods and build a camp fire.
When the fire got nice and hot, throw one of the cans in and hide behind trees. Sometimes the cans wouldn't blow up, that's when it gets dangerous. Everyone is peeking around the tree and slowly inching toward the fire. BOOOM!!!

Thanks for the video gravediggermax.
Up here in PA we have those tiny deer tics that carry lymes disease. The bigger dog tics are no big threat but they still like to poke their head in and take a few swallows. For tics; I spray my clothes, pouch, hat and boots only (no skin) with Deep Woods Off and never had a problem. If I forget, I'll walk all the way back to the truck and spray. It

Go-rebles, does it matter which freq the e-trac is in? I think you can manually set it from 1 to 11, not using the auto noise cancel. Correct me if I'm wrong. When it does hit on the E, what numbers come up?
13 on the f-75 yikes!!! Will have to look at the confidence meter when hitting iron at those low numbers. Thanks for the tests. I will be looking for more with your gold coin...very int

Most all the silver I dig here in PA is not corroded, it comes out like it went in, except for the dirt stuck to it. The old copper comes out pitted green and black. Ocassionaly I'll get a decent copper, usually depends on the area and the debth. I did notice when digging a pit using the earth magnet method, the old copper coins that were deep ( 12 to 20 inches) were in beautiful shape, less

I hunt with a friend who uses an e-trac. A couple years ago we were in a field we call the button field. I got a deep, mid high tone between low grunts on my old f-75. He was about 10 feet away so he walked over and swung his e-trac over the spot, looked at his numbers and right away said it was trash. I'm digging it anyway. I dug down about 7-8 inches and pulled out a nice 1" flat butt
