Well I think I got some more of this figured out went into the basement and did some more test , instead of using that 4 inch nail on the dime I replaced it with a 3 inch nail which I cut in half to make it 1 1/2 inches long.
I ran the same test with high trash and ferrous coin , bang it hit me in the head the nail over the dime was smaller now ferrous coin and high trash both hit the dime at

Keith I did the same as you years ago but it was a pain in the A$$ I cut my teeth on a cheap $20.00 bfo back in 69 Things sure have change since then what is interesting about this minelab is it can see the coin under the nail and I am sure minelab knows this so I hope they make some more improvements in this area would be sweet if they gave it more depth and audio . sube

Jack Flynn target trace in pinpoint sizing is all metal the trace is 1 inch deeper in this mode compared to normal pinpoint where it de tunes to the target . It's like a boost mode which will show better trace than normal . Also you can tell the shape of the target not like normal . Good luck sube

Thanks again Keith I ran the test just with the dime and nail as I showed in the video ferrous coin I could get 3 inches on a east west hit and full depth 7 inches on a north south hit but you were getting audio
High trash suffered worst 1 1/2 inches on the target on a east west hit north south hit was 7 inches but then you were getting audio .It would appear that the audio is tied to the trace

Here's a vid I put up on findmall .Again I had trouble keeping on target camera in the way the traces build better and faster by being on target this is a visuial way to hunt in nails heck you don't even need any audio .This is in pinpoint sizing with target trace you have to watch the screen but when your in a carpet of nails your not whipping through it so I don't have a problem

Well only took 7 hours to get the vid processed ,
There's a few things to mention before watching the video some targets were hard to see because I had to watch the camera and my sweep was not on center also I found that there is a delay from switching from ferrous coin to pinpoint sizing a second or two so engage pinpoint sizing a foot or two away from target and sweep into the target th

From another site talked to minelab this morning and asked about what it would take to do the upgrades , , to do the arm rest upgrade the 3030 has to be sent in to be modified, and they didn't have a price on that yet. the battery upgrade kit is a ''new updated battery'' ( no change to the detector body ) with a deeper tab and new different colored o-ring that is supposed

What about the people that bought 4 years ago and are out of warranty they paid the same as the people buying now . Just is not right you buy a detector for water and have fear of wrecking it out of warranty like me then what just eat it .
If I buy a product and does not do as they say then they should fix the problem for free .
I just don't get it but I sure like what the ctx can do . su

As far as I know I don't think so because they would of show en the new super charger you would have to pay for .The batteries look the same except for the rubber around the top of the battery looks like it still will fit in the charger . sube

As far as updates I don't see any . These are fixes for a poor design that there going to charge us for the battery fix is going to be 129.00 which is not bad if you need another battery . But this problem was from the start and then 4 years later wow a fix appears 4 years come on that fix should have been in the first few months and should of been free .
So as I see going on 4 years and n

Steveg What Keith says about the tone is spot on .
I have ran a explorer 2 for quite a while and the Ctx going on 4th year .
NAILS here is what I have found out using either machine ( roofing nails are very hard to tell from coins because as they sink the head starts to turn up because of the larger surface area now your looking at the head of the nail instead of a regular nail which most tim

Tnsharpshooter I think the only detector that I well try and run here would be a deus but will not spring for one tell they come out with a small coil.
Getting back to the original ?
So my ? is the 17 inch coil not seeing the small rust pieces and silent masking is happening , I have read beneath the mask by Tom on here and this is what I think is happening .
It seems that the 6 inch coil i

When I got the ctx the stock coil was what I used only found 2 silver dimes where I found 10 with the 6 inch coil . I had hunted the fairgrounds with the stock coil for 2 to 3 months till I was able to finally get the 6 . Most targets here I would say 90 percent that I had found with the stock coil had iron with the target that's why I wanted the 6 inch coil .
I really started to kill the p

This is the 4 th year running this detector, Lets start where I hunt at a old fairgrounds I ran the 6 inch coil here in a area of 20 by 20 dug 10 silver dimes here and 3 wheat pennys .
This area has the screen almost totally covered in red dots and a constant iron grunt this is running in ferrous coin .
The reason it is covered in red dots on target trace is because there are a ton of old rotte

Silver Master I would not believe you if I did not start detecting in1969 , I started detecting with a bfo relco that cost 19.95 had a depth of 2 inches on a good day. First place I hunted was a county park very few pull-tabs most junk was bottle caps dug it all no disc what so ever but I would hit a wheat penny ever foot and this place was not that heavily used .At this place I would always get

I have used pinpoint lock in areas I want to hunt deep the way I set it is to lock pinpoint in sizing only not normal and have target trace enabled that's pinpoint target trace not target trace .Scan one target at a time and watch the screen as you make several passes over target to build the target on the screen . It's slow but it well get coins and nonferrous items deeper than disc m

Check my vid out on findmall .
There are naysayers that say it does not work and that they don't want to watch the screen all the time .
If your in a area that has tons of trash this is one of several ways to get more from it .
Areas that have been pounded by you and ever-body else and every detector you have used but you got very good coins in this area and you know there's more the

Des D I personally wouldn't recommend you have it on the entire time . Why would be my ?
I have done test on in ground targets with it enabled and not enabled since you can run higher sensitivity in seawater the signals are always better than without it .
The only thing minelab says about seawater is you need a faster sweep with it on to get more depth .
But going slow in my test is

Looks like you use the same settings that I do . This will be my 4th year using the ctx I started using seawater 2 1/2 years ago after Randy aka digger imformed me about it he wanted me to run some test using it and comparing signals with and without it enabled . That said I was always running higher sence 2 to 3 #s higher with it enabled than without because it would smooth out the sparky nois

Yea want to run the deus or racer in there and see what I come up with need a fast detector .
One thing about this place these coins have been there a 100 years ,What I'm trying to find out is why I found these coins at 3 to 4 inches deep any detector you would have used would have found these coins no problem but they did not . These coins were not mask with iron or anything they were by t

Yes Daniel that ctx is something different I well be using mine for the 4th year now I'm still amazed at some of the coins I have found with it .
To give you a example I have hunted a fairgrounds for the past 10 years I ran the 6000 series 3 the mxt some fisher and explore 2 all with big and small coils then I started hunting with the ctx there . In a area I have pounded hard with all thes

As more people come to believe their 'rights' are dispensed/granted by the government (rather than innate to all people everywhere), it will eventually happen that for the declared security and safety of the then ignorant/low-information/gullible populace detecting will be forbidden everywhere (except for those who pay a substantial fee for a permit given only to 'friends' of

Public land is not public anymore those who have the most money and influance are the ones that write the laws .And example I hunt out west Idaho don't hunt on state land I hunt on federal land ( yea federal land is own by me and you ) right that's why instead of 20 dollars for a elk tag it cost me 600 dollars for a tag . I'm not hunting on state land I'm hunting on federal la
