My only regret is that I can't build a test garden due to WWII, I would get less signals under the hood of a Kenwoth, lol.

WTG, Excellent Video and very true, thanks for posting your video,
I moved to a place in the city and the ground is wet sticky clay that is full of Iron bomb fragments from WWII and any coil bigger than a 6x4 is useless, I can't move the coil more than

My Whites Blue Box 5900DI Pro Plus, best threshold ever and power in reserve compared to modern machines, And the DISC will also smooth out bad ground, If only they made a new version, It has the power of a PI when you learn how to tune it.

Some Guy in Australia just found a Gold Nugget with his 800 and the 11" Coil, The ground must of been low in ground minerals because he found it with the GB switched off, Nice little 0.1 gram nugget at about an inch and a half deep,

Yes mate, If the brand you prefer works for you then that's all that matters, The trouble with detectors is we all live all over the planet and what works in one place might not work elsewhere, I bought a brilliant detector back it 2005 but boy did that sucker punish me, wonderful machine but it did not like where I detect and I wasted 100s of hours try to make good finds but alas no joy,

Cool, well maybe you can find a 15 Coiltek or a 14" Detech at a nice low price or maybe someone will lend you one for a couple of weeks.
I am of the same mind as you with that switch on and Go set up, I think people get lost when it comes to machines that have been over engineered and to be honest these switch on and Go machines produce the finds just as well as any of these modern marvel

Des I remember back when you were field testing the X-terra prior to it's release how shocked you were with the performance of the X-terra, but you were excited even back then, It's good to see you still got the fire.

Although there are some really great machines on the market I still use the MXT's for a couple of reasons , Being they have the history of being the best VLF machine for finding Gold and they

Well done Des, Impressive report, seems like the 600 is almost but not quite, And I agree, That prospecting mode should be standard on any new detector as 99% of folks want to find Gold. there is loads of good info there that I think people are going to read more than once.
thanks for making the effort.

One thing I would add to what Des has said and that would be to use a machine that allows you to lock the Tracking/Ground balance because when you have the Coil over the Void the detector will no longer be ground balanced and will become noisy alerting you to the fact. Which is why the Whites TM 808 no longer has the Cave/Void setting because it is just not needed when you use the GB to alert you
