Thanks Dan.
I've never heard of a USB wall charger so I Googled it. Very affordable. Easy to get.
Apparently you can't use just any USB wall charger though. It has to be the right one or it could cause problems. I guess I'll wait and see what everyone else is using.

I had even deeper results with the super six on my standard Vista Gold just the other day.
I got good repeatable signals on my 12" silver dime and 15" silver quarter. I was totally amazed.
Next chance I get, I need to go back and try the 11" elliptical coil again because last I checked, I don't think that coil picked up either of those coins.

Fill me in on this.

Yes, the Equinox is a VLF detector.
I think what they mean is that single frequency detector technology has reached a dead end.
VLF just refers to

Keith's review made me want to sell my old Vista Gold and get a Gain but I think I'll wait til after my Equinox 800 gets here.
It will be interesting to see how these two machines compare.

They don't list that model on their site. Must be VERY new.
I found it here.
Edit - Oops, nevermind. That's a euro site.

I have the CZ20 but have never heard of that. How do you do it?

What I was getting at is that 3D is the better scenario.
Had you used a 3D situation, the test would have much more meaning. Simply laying a coin next to a nail doesn't tell us much as far as masking is concerned.
Even laying the nail on top of the coin is not as good a test as laying the nail 1" above the coin.

Everyone always seems to do these tests by laying the coin next to a piece of iron which doesn't really simulate in-ground conditions.
In the ground, the coin is more often than not, below the iron.
Try putting a 1" board over the coin. Mark the exact location of the coin on top of the board. Then lay the nail(s) on top of the board. You will see how it changes everything and bett

On one hand I totally agree that it's a no win situation when posting these videos. On the other hand all the Equinox videos I've seen so far have been lame, like no effort was put into them at all to show what the machine can do.
One thing I'm hoping is that if Minelab was smart, they would have planned all along to release the Equinox one week before the published release date

This site is so old fashioned. I don't think it has changed since I first came here over a decade ago. I remember having to use a photo host on forums back in the old days. Now it's too much of a hassle to bother with.
Most forums today have the ability to upload pics directly from your computer or device. On some, when posting a video link, the video can be watched right in the post

I've often wondered why coils don't say on them what machine they are supposed to work with, or at least have some sort of code that you can look up. Some do say it but many don't, especially aftermarket coils.
You buy a coil online but there's no way to tell if they sent you the right one. It just doesn't make sense. It's such an easy thing for them to do.

Mine are two 3' fiberglass rods with wooden handles. I use them for gridding fields. The handle makes them easy to push into the ground. The 3' length makes it so you don't have to bend down to move them.

I'm really surprised Fisher doesn't make a decent beach detector. They expect us to improvise with their heavy CZ21 with crappy headphones and no ability to change coils. It's a great machine with incredible performance but it's a real hassle to use out of the water. The ability to turn off the salt mode would be nice too. Wasn't the old CZ7 like that?
I never use disc

At some point people will get tired of waiting and back out of their pre-orders.
They announced the new machine around the Autumnal Equinox September 22nd and dealers started taking orders soon after. To make us wait six months til the Spring Equinox for delivery would be asking a lot.
I'm still hoping for early January. If we don't get a confirmed release date by then, I may giv

After a little more exploring I found that the T2 upgrade is in affect.
The expiration date is on the purchase page when you go to order it. It expires April 31, 2018, same as the Fisher upgrade.

With a ten or twelve hour run time, I doubt I would ever come close to using up a whole charge in a day.
I wouldn't expect anything to go wrong with the Minelab battery, but in case something did happen to it, the power bank idea sounds like a good option.
Would a power bank be able to run the machine even with an expired or non-existent battery?
