Did anyone else see this CBS coverage of what Chinese citizens think about Trump? It seems to me CBS should be worried about what people think in the US, not China. This strikes me as just another attack story and something that I personally think is helping build more support for Trump. I have not made up my mind but it is obvious two candidates are not being very well controlled by the ruling political elite and it shows with biased coverage. I think the potential exists for Sanders to win the democratic popular vote and Trump the republican only to have things turned upside at the conventions and different candidates be selected by the people hiding behind the curtains.

Therein lies the problem.. People these days do not vote for 'whoever you think is the best candidate'.. What we vote for [and yes, I do include myself}, is not so much the best but more of an 'anti' vote.. 'I do not like this person so I will vote for the other one"..

You are not voting for someone but against another.... and it is a terrible method of selecting a government..Where are the leaders of yesteryear?... probably working at Google or Apple..spinning smiley sticking its tongue out

Well it seems "they" can't kill Godzilla.

I listened to the failed candidate Rubio last nite--- just from his words, he sounded more like Godzillla,,, amazing.

Part of being a good candidate is being able to read the electorate--- seems Godzilla knows how

Hillary hasn't even tried to read the electorate-- she just hopped on the Obama train

This train however may be on the wrong track.

The rust belt is prime territory for Godzilla-- and even listening to Hillary last nite-- she like Rubio sounded more like Godzilla,, amazing.

Religion is certainly not the focus of this years focus-- surely most folks can see this.

And it would also seem many folks don't trust the press or don't fully believe.

Godzilla is the right's BIG monkey wrench--- he has indeed outsmarted them,,,,, it really wasn't hard to do

And the wheels are again spinning this morning on how to derail Godzilla,,, but I feel internally they really deserve to be beat politically ,,,, this is what is supposed to happen to any party guilty of what they have done

I still say Godzilla is an " Independent" running as a republican--- but Godzilla does have stances supporting a few far right policies

Ole Bernie staying in the race--- will keep ole Hillary to far left ---- this leaves the gravy train independent vote wide open for Godzilla

So Godzilla played a few more trump cards last night, and there are even more to come

Did anyone notice last night--- Kasich lost all the counties in Oh that bordered Pa-- so we know Godzilla's next territory to capture

More to come...

A few months ago I very nearly made a bet that Trump would not be the Republican nominee. Today I would not make that bet.

However...I still believe that he has left enough evidence to disqualify him from running. AND I figure there's a mad scramble to find it. Kasich seems to be a better choice (actually the original Godzilla would have been a better choice <smile>).

I don't want to open a can of worms here...but on my daily walk this morning I tried to wrap my head around why all this rancor aimed at the opposite party. I didn't come to any conclusions, sadly enough. I tried to think of when we (our representatives) do come together...and the clearest example is when the federal budget is approved (although not all that smoothly, lately..but it does get done). So it does happen...and also illustrates that we CAN work together.

Why anyone thinks I would lie on here is beyond me. My dad's stock value at his death was actually 5.4 million..to be a bit more accurate. He was 94 when he died and he was 30 when he arrived here. I don't know exactly when he started buying stocks. At his retirement he worked as a security guard for J.P. Morgan...wearing a suit and carrying an unloaded gun (a favorite story he told me). He received a substantial amount of their stock which at his death amounted to 20,300 shares. He raised two daughters. He lived very much beneath his means (very, very much). That is probably one key to acquiring wealth. I've personally traded in the stock market very actively since 1999 and so the comment that the market is rigged especially disturbs me. What is "rigged" is ignorance of the market. The market will take a fool's money very quickly!

I keep re-visiting this thread to try to find some fresh air...sadly, there's not too much.

So you're convinced that there is evidence to disqualify him. You just don't know what that evidence is? Very telling statement about yourself. The words "Witch hunt" come to mind.

Why is consensus so important to you? There are very different philosophies on how this country should be run. How do you compromise between them? 1/2 socialist society, 1/2 representative republic?

"dr" the "fresh air" you are hoping for will not occur on a forum, which for the most part, is frequented by people who are not duped by the OBOLABOTS or their "useful Idiots".Had it Not been for your Father and his wisdom you would probably be one of the "occupiers" living in a cardboard box and screaming for "your fair share".Also "you",the correct usage here, never responded to my "schools" or the correct usage of "you"and "one"on the post where "you" were lacking, not an uncommon situation for a"useful Idiot".

That is Doc's way. He doesn't have the skills to debate in a dignified manor. The last time he he was called out out on it he went crying to another forum. He seems to think he can insult his way to being on top. Just like his candidate. What I can't figure out though is how he got through life without gettin his behind kicked once a week. His mom probably had a T-shirt printed up for him sayin "Excuse my mouth, I suffer from little man's disease."

Name calling....smart a$$ comments...same thing and results are the same. I find this thread entertaining. We have some very witty folks on here. I am also liking the more serious comments about our selection of candidates.....politics.. like religion, are very touchy volatile subjects.
Pretty sure I know who I will be voting for when it's our turn next month, my mind hasn't been changed.

Go back and read the comments of those who complain about name calling and it will become apparent that THEY are the ones who initiate the name calling AND then they try to take the high road by sniffing about name calling. So typical and predictable.

10 days ago I wrote in this thread.

Name calling is not only bad manners, it is often a substitute for clear expression of thoughts, opinions or facts.
It also has a nasty way of degenerating into obscenity and even threats.
It's not what Should be tolerated on a forum as valuable as Tom D's and I respectfully request that he make a statement to that effect.
You can care, be enthused, work for the candidate of your choice and feel all the passion you want, in my opinion, none of it justifies name calling.

I don't think you can find an example of me "name-calling" in this thread or any others. In the event that you can find such an occurrence, I stand accused by my own words and apologize.

Well I sit here tonite,, giving many thoughts to our country and its government.

I am indeed saddened to what I hear and see.

I am writing this not to be for or against any candidate -- merely to point out what has happened and what is happening.

We see the press is trying to paint Mr Trump as this Tasmanian devil.

Ok, let's go back and look at former President Bush.

Who was he and what were his accomplishments???

He was a governor of Texas,--- was actually because of Tx's constitution, one of the least giving powers to the office of govenor.

He owned part of a baseball team.

His national guard record was missing in action.

And don't forget his ready made supposed ranch in Tx.

So why didn't the press paint this questionable gent it seems as a monster.

And it turns out--- he was a monster,,, both from a national security standpoint as well as economically.

And who got rich under him--- the bomb makers and Halliiburton,,coincidence??
Next there is Hillary.

She actually replied to Mr Mathews when asked if She was ever provided proof of Iraq's possession of nuclear weapons-- her answer was NO.
She went on to say her vote for war was only supposed to be a vote to give the president some leverage to use for the president --- so the inspectors inside Iraq could indeed complete their inspections,,,.she went on to say Bush kicked them out and went to war.

But ole Hillary didn't bother running to a microphone and state publicly she was changing her vote for war.

This is truly sickening for me-- as I am a veteran of 3 wars.

The most important vote a sitting US senator can cast is a vote for war--- and she has said she made a mistake.

Now where has the leader of the republican party been,,, or better asked who is the leader of the Republican Party??

Speaker Ryan really didn't even want the job. Boehner never wanted or like the job either.

And McConnell's real only mission in life was to make Obama a one term president-- a failed attempt

So the Supreme Court decision for Citizens United-- basically making money levels unlimited in politics.

So the republicans have this fruitloop system using delegates for picking their nominee,,,, with this unlimited money now in politics,,and we saw how far even Gingrich was allowed to go in 2012 presidential election just with having one Las Vegas billionaire supporting him.

So with this silly system,,,, if all original 17 candidates would have indeed had their billionaire supporting each of them--- one could probably expect a split electorate/ delegate round up at the end---- hence the establishment picks the nominee.

And making the rules up after all the votes are cast??? Reminds me of when one of my teachers give too difficult a test, hence they had to render a bell curve-- so even the best and brightest wouldn't have their record tarnished

And don't forget the Dems have a flimsy system using super delegates.

We are supposed to be-- if you listen to the politicians,,, an up to date, modernized country--- I'm still wondering about this.

We see race entered into every presendential campaign-- this is shameful,, and many are guilty even the democrats,,,I remember William Clinton's comments after Obama defeated his spouse in SC back in 2008.

We see the Muslims, blacks, hispanics, etc being mentioned.

I find it strange that one group never gets talked about....The American Indian.

Where are they btw,, mostly on reservations ... Why???

So we as a republic basically eradicated the Indians, and the ones who survived we put on reservations-- to never be talked about politically.

And we have strived to be the world's police force toppling leaders we do 't like.

And connecting this so-called we want folks to have free and fair elections-- maybe we should be looking in the mirror.

We constantly talk about who and why we don't want certain counties to have weapons of mass destruction or even nuclear weapons.

But who is the only country to use nuclear weapons against another country???

And have we as the United States ever used nuclear weapons against another nuclear power??? No

So this is indeed the why behind these " other" countries wanting nuclear weapons.

We are in many ways -- our government is very hippocritical ,,, and I wonder sometimes this gent Bin Laden did latch on to this,,,. I also wonder if he didn't get his master plan from basically studying American History,, and noticing our biggest defeat was actually Pearl Harbor,, indeed were suicide pilots flew their planes in. And don't forget many movies have been made about this.

It seems some want us to be pals with everyone--- but how many times do we see for example were the Muslims are ratting out fellow Muslims for thier terrorist plans/ attacks ???

And even consider the Geneva Conventions -- I was trained while on active duty to abide by them,,, but does the law really help us with terrorist???
This one side having to stay within certain bounds,,, and the other side with no bounds---- could we be expected if we ever engaged in a true world war like WW 2 to ever win such a war?

I think the press, the politicians, etc-- need to start operating on the premise of countries and groups of folks need to earn our respect--- we should not be just free Neely giving it to them.

I see a fractured party in the making,,, but the dems had better watch out-- I predict they are next,,,sooner rather than later.

This political speak no longer works in this country-- too much real time video and past audio can surface--- the lies don't hold up as well as yesteryear ,,, and the common voter can easily view.

They, the politicians, used to be able to both run and hide-- not anymore.

This new technology will never allow a supposed " near perfect" candidate to ever, ever emerge in the future.

I think I can say,,, this is the last hoorah for the Republicnas to win the whitehouse-- with the changing demographics.

And this was the plan all along by the left.

But I also think it is dangerous for us as a country to move far left and stay there,,,and I am still trying to figure out how politically the country can even get back to near center.

Of course a scandal in an party's administration can swing an election in the future.

So where are we going in the future??? I don't know exactly,,, but I don't think we can continue to be the world's police force.
We had better be on guard and take appropriate measures to have a competitive workforce-- both with skills and education,, and this takes money.

I personally wouldn't want the job of President of USA for no amount of loot-- maybe some years back, but certainly not now.

We really need some constitutional amendments, heck we even need our Supreme Court intact.

I have never seen so many knives out at one time by the politicians here in this country.

And this vote for this person to stop this person-- stupid sounding

A person's vote,, I thought was suppose to be something sacred-- guess not.

How can we have so many politicians in DC to have so many higher educational degrees-- to act so stupid ( both parties).

What I really want to be able to do is turn on my TV, and hear what this group of now ( misfits) have done for US.

I wonder is this what they teach at Harvard???

If so, I think I 'll pass.

I read post here on this forum.

I think many here are wise, and some are older than I I enjoy reading the post, and the post do paint somewhat of a picture for me. I think I know some of you, even though I haven't met personnally.

And I think if we could indeed take many of the folks here that post --- and take them to DC and replace the bums,,, we would be much better off.
I could be the bus driver Lol

And to close, here is where I think our government went wrong-- and down the road the history books may reflect.

In the 2000 presendential election, Chief Justice Rehnquist made a terrible mistake by even taking the Gore vs Bush case. Btw he went to Harvard too.

The constitution fully supported actions to be taken in the event of a state not being able to certify its electorate to the electoral college.

And granted in Fla not being able to certify---- Bush would have been chose by the house as President, and Lieberman as Vp.
Only fitting for a divided country.
Would be have been better served??? I really think so

And to think this dumb Supreme Court decision --- was made by the court to never be used a court precedent in the future.

Every decision the court makes IMO is suppose to be used as precedent--- this was supposed to be an action,,, that would indeed keep the court more honest in its future decisions.
And to see the court indeed enter into politics like it did---- shameful and in my opinion has never recovered and it may never in the future.
