Equinox 800 vs 900 - 7 weeks ago
Long time 800 user. Love the 800. What is the advantage to going to the 900? Bought the Manticore. So far not impressed with how it does in somewhat iron sites. So much falsing. Was wondering if the 900 would do better? What kind of improvement should I expect to see over the 800? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I tried general and park mode. I even tried fast hoping to pull some goodies from amongst the iron. I would get a nice sounding hi tone beside iron. I would check the Ferris and non Ferris meter and it showed non Ferris. I moved the iron bias up to 3,4,5 and the silencer up to 3,4,5,6. It wasn’t until 6 it started to break up. Calabash I took one of the nails and laid it on the ground. It came in in the 90’s. I raised the bottle cap to 3,4,5 still hit the iron nail. Raised the silencer 3,4,5,6 and at 6 the nail started to brake up but, still hitting it. I tried different programs using, multi tone, 3,5 tones. Same problem. Went for a hunt at a old park. Lots of trash and nails. Tried several different programs. 3 tones, 5 tones, multi. Listened for high tone targets that came in in the 80’s and 90’s. Every deep high tone target I dug ended up being a nail or rusty bolt. Alll targets came in as a non Farris target. Wasn’t even showing a Farris target on the U meter. Targets sound good. It’s was just one of those hunts where 3 guys are out hunting and enjoying the day. Until the end of the hunt none of us knew what the other had found. Once we compared targets found that’s when we was all surprised that I hit more. Next time we will start comparing targets. I was using the 11 inch coil. But, what I found interesting was the areas I found my coins was the same area that the other to had just went over. I waited until they hunted a area and I made sure I stayed away from both of them so that our detectors would not enter fear with each other. The IH’s were 8 or 9 inches deep. So was the silver ring. Deus 2 first hunt and 2 experienced equinox users - 1 year ago
Took the Deus 2 to a hit hard old school yard with two others that had equinox 800’s. First time we have hunted there. Being my first time using the Deus 2 I tried out general mode 3 tones. The equinox users was hunting in Park 1 50 tones. After a few hours we got together to show our finds. Both the equinox users had found 1 wheat. Looking for a great silver program in lots of iron and modern trash. Which program would you start in? General, fast or deep high conductors? Would you notch everything out from 0 to 85? By using notch will you be missing a lot of silver close to iron? What other settings would you adjust? Got my Deus 2 in today. Ready to get out learn it. I did own a Deus at one time. Anyone got any really good programs I can try in a iron nail trashy park. Ground around my area is mostly mild. The old parks were once fairgrounds that go way back to the mid 1800’s. I have pounded these parks over the years to the point silver finds are very few. Got me Deus 2. Came with a 11 inch coil. I would rather have a 9 inch coil. Willing to trade coils if anyone is interested. The whole reason for me wanting the Deus was to hunt iron and trashy sites. Okay guys I’m not going to be able to get my hands on a Deus 2 so I’m asking everyone that is using the Legend to tell me what they think of it in iron and trash. I know Nokta is going to come out with some updates to fix some things. Would I be happy with it since I sold my Equinox hoping to get a Deus 2 but, it is what it is. Need something now to hunt with. Most of my sites have all been hit hard and finds are slim. Lots of iron and/ trash in these sites. Yet older coins have been dug at 10 inches plus from these sites. Deus2 vs equinox in iron sites - 1 year ago
I have been using the equinox 800 since they came out and I truly love using it. My question is most of my sites seem to have a lot of iron in them. Would the Deus 2 benefit me in pulling coins from these sites? These sites have been hit hard with many detectors over the years.
