I actually realized this on day one last July when I got my first minelab etrac. I posted the info maybe thinking some of the beginner users of etrac would read and it may help them. There are some on other forums who give this TTF advice to new users. The muli tone conductive operation is to me what sets the etrac apart from other brands of detectors in addition to deeper TID. It will wake y

It seems some think the 2-tone ferrous audio tone mode as opposed to using multi-tone conductive tone mode is better when detecting coins/relics. For those of you that actually believe this, try this experiment.
Drop a dime on clean ground and place your etrac in manual 25 sensitivity multi tone conductive mode. Put your headphones on and start sweeping the dime and continue to sweep progressi

It might be my imagination, but it seems my f75se has less jumpy ID numbers on targets that are higher quality alloys as opposed to junk items that read similar in value. I've been relic hunting with it mostly but did get in a yard today and struck a somewhat deep penny. The bullets (approximately 210 years old) I've been digging have a more bouncy vdi even at moderate depths, the pe

Don't know all the technical jargon behind it, but my 10x12 sef is hotter on deep silver dimes versus procoil. Now if that dang sef coil just weighed the same as the procoil that would be nice. It may have something to do with the fact the sef coil is actually a cross between a concentric and dd coil.

Markg, your wheat coin signals that seem a bit low can be caused by a number of things. I recovered some with readings the same as yours a week ago. I was in some pretty warm ground with the etrac auto sensing at 14. So I think mineralization can be a cause. Something else I've noticed is if you are operating at say channel 11 or channel 1, it seems more times than not in channels 1,2 the

I will say this, if your park is full of trash/iron, it has coins. If you are using the stock procoil that makes it more difficult as opposed to a good 8x6 or 10x12 sef coil. Yes, a sunray x5 would help too. The trick to using the procoil in an iron/trash patch is don't run high manual sensiviry, try running your etrac in auto plus(0) and see what it says in the area you plan to hunt. Wh

John, I would recommend a disc setting as follows. Blacken the 01-01 line 01-39, next blacken the entire 50 line(far right hand colummn). Finally blacken the 25 ferrous down to 35. If your are finding good targets at your site with the above disc and it has a lot of iron you should consider opening your disc up to 27 ferrous and take note of high tone conductive numbers with ferrous numbers th

I would go back there for sure. And I wouldn't give up just yet with the 11" coil either. Likely one should find a silver coin or two' especially since you found the buttons. One or more of those look like high conductors so area probably hasn't been hit in a while, if ever. Just curious, what were your settings? I just got a F75se and I think I'm understanding it pre

Good for you Markg. I had quite a few people tell me I'm nuts for digging those signals. One other thing I remember is the target always seems to want to give a tone in the exact same spot. That could be one of the biggest giveaways; especially since iron hits tend to move around a bit.

I read where the F75 tends to up average with a nonferrous target closr to iron. I have seen this. My question is what happens when you say hit a silver dollar with iron close? Or maybe better asked, does the F75 wrap like the etrac and V3i?

Took her for a short spin today. I like it a lot. To me, the unit is ergonomically superior to my etracs and V3i. A relic hunters dream come true. I did make two finds in my supposed etrac/v3i hunted out trashy site. An end to the handle of a fork or spoon about an inch long and the other find looks sorta like one of those big willow leaf spinner blades off of a bass lure except this looks

I get it. That's the small detent feeling I'm experiencing when turning the knob. By the way Tom your experiences and facts are what drove me to purchase the f75se.

Daniel, I saw your comments earlier concerning the whites v3i while hunting in hot ground. I have had my v3i since 31 Jan last year and then purchased etrac in July and have since keyholed the V. I have a few questions for you. If one goes into the V3i menus and set all tones to zero except for the ones you want to hear and not reject any vdis using discrimination, will this scenario provide a

I see the discussion down below talking about the different aspects of the FBS signals. The ground balance genius on the etrac may be more key to this detectors outstanding performance. All the other detectors I own require a clean place to ground balance according the manufacturers. It seems the etrac doesn't. I have hunted the junkiest of places with great results. The only thing I no

Thanks, I got it. I was doing it correctly before except, I didn't realize you had to turn the knob so much to change the numbers. Again thanks.

I have run 3 ways- open at the top and blacking out the 01 line say to 38/39 and blacking out both 01 and 02. Don't forget about the ole silver dollar thingy. It does quiet the machine down a bit around iron. The 10x12 sef is also quieter around iron versus the procoil even with the same sensivity over the same ground. I actually believe the little 8x6 coil is even better on the etrac on

The giveaway to me was the high tone and the ferrous number hanging on the 27/28 line and not falling any further down. Also, I can't prove it but I suspect these targets would have been missed in 2-tone ferrous. I believe they would have gave low tones based on the etrac's internal setup in 2-tone ferrous. And yes, running that little disc in a trashy/iron laden site is a bit hard o

I've been using an etrac since July last year. I have a late 1700s-1800s site I've been searching. I have retrieved 5 good targets-1 silver ring and 5 silver coins that displayed interesting readings on the etrac screen. This site is heavily laden with iron with low ground mineralization. I try and run my discrimination with wide open screen all the way down to the 27 ferrous line.
