Well, I like to boil things down. Having used both the Racer and Racer 2 the main difference is your style. If you want to dig all non-ferrous, the original Racer with its expanded 0-40 ferrous range is the way to go. The Racer 2 expands the non-ferrous end of the equation and as a result compresses the ferrous range into the 0-10 range. This allows for less fine tuning of the break between ferro

"You would think one coil and selectable freqs.would be possible because I believe Greeks and g2 & gold bug coils interchange even though there is over 12 kHz difference."
There is a big difference between merely functioning and getting optimum performance at each frequency. People have been building selectable frequency machine for a very long time, it is nothing new by a long s

Thanks Tom for lending your intelligent expertise to the development of the Racer 2 - I am enjoying the fruits of the effort by you and others. Good job, and again - thank you!

I am a bit tired of higher frequency units, so yes. Really though I am about done with single frequency units in general. Selectable frequency done right is the future. The V3i was actually sort of perfect but a feature nightmare. Just give me that ability to run 2.5 kHz, 7.5 kHz, and 22.5 kHz separately or all at once, but leave out the 47 pages of sub menus. Just select one of the frequencies o

I got nothing on lots of you guys! My interest in mostly prospecting so the field has been more limited. The ones I remember off hand (made a list a while back):
Compass Yukon 77-IB, Compass Coin Magnum, Compass Gold Scanner, Compass Gold Scanner Pro, Compass X-70, Compass X-80, Fisher 1236-X2, Fisher 1280-X, Fisher CZ-5, Fisher CZ-70 Pro, Fisher CZ-3D, Fisher Gold Bug, Fisher Gold Bug 2, Fish

Having first used the FORS I was not thrilled with the first Racer coil. The CoRe coil just feels so much more substantial, and being epoxy filled no buoyancy issues. Really good move on Makros part going back to that coil.

DFX Bigfoot, best park and sports field jewelry combo ever made in my opinion. I tried the V3i several times but just went back to the DFX for the final time. I would not use it for relics however, would rather use the F19 for that personally.

I have been pretty excited to see something new from White's and plan on having an MX Sport in hand soon. But the question here is not if it competes with machines that cost a lot more, but whether it can hold its own against a machine that weighs a pound less and can be had for $150 less. I think most would agree White's is targeting the incredibly popular AT Pro with the MX Sport. How

Nobody has to be first kid on their block, and sorry, but I do not sympathize with people like me that choose to be a guinea pig by doing so. People with any concerns at all should wait a minimum of 6 months after release for the inevitable bugs to be found and fixed. Take your time, read the field reports from actual users, wait for a consensus to develop.
Or be the first kid on your block. B

"The problem is Steve .....companies keep giving us what THEY want and we keep buying them."
Well, these are businesses, and there is exactly one gauge of success - sales. Nobody makes anybody buy a metal detector, it is purely discretionary. Every time you vote yes with your wallet you send the message they are doing it right. If they don't build what you want, for any reason,

Already people say too many machines too fast but then we all want another! Yeah, a Relic Racer crossed my mind also but people really are suffering from new machine fatigue. Gotta say that having used the 14 kHz Racer and 15 kHz FORS and 19 kHz FORS myself it is pretty hair splitting stuff anyway. If I could only own one 19 kHz would be a great compromise. Instead, I like my machines to have as

Handles are funny things and what works for one person does not work for another. In the end I am a Makro guy instead of a Nokta guy and it all boils down to the handle design. I have a zillion hours swinging Minelab PI detectors and that handle feels natural. The Nokta handle by comparison with the index finger always on trigger design is just not doing it for me. My grip always felt contrived i

Well, videos and stuff are helpful but I don't read too much into them. I hope to be hands on with one next week so will just see for myself.
No doubt though that for far too long most companies make what is convenient for them as opposed to what most would agree is right. It was convenient for White's to have the headphone connector facing directly away from the operator on the back

I have had moderately high hopes for this machine, be a shame if it falls on its face. White's has a lot riding on it. It may be in this day and age of the Deus and FORS/Racer White's just got too far behind holding onto 20th century thinking about how a detector is supposed to act and sound. This is not even a major offering, just another $700 mid range detector, so if White's tur

The depth difference charts on metaldetectorreviews.net are nonsense.
I have used the F75 extensively plus have run it head to head against the Racer. The F75 was a real problematic machine for EMI but the DST version has pretty much solved that.
In lower mineral ground the F75 may an edge for depth but in really bad ground it runs neck and neck with the Racer. The F75 is slightly biased to

I saw that and it can't be correct given the other target numbers. What they are saying is foil is going to be more like an aluminum can. Never underestimate the powers of translation! Nickels come in around 30 so foil is going to be around 15

This may seem silly to some but here goes. I let all my FORS models go because ultimately the handle and my hand did not get along. The Racer I prefer for the in my face display with everything right there, and my hand likes the new Keith inspired lazy S grip. Shows how one little thing can tip the difference for some.

Well I had both the Racer and the F75 and I sold the Racer because even though they ran neck and neck in my ground the F75 had more features that I liked. Well, just sold the F75 as the Racer 2 added the features I wanted that were missing before.
I can promise the depth thing will pretty much depend on your particular soil so what I see and what Keith may see will be different as will what yo

The FORS CoRe and FORS Gold are basically the same 15 kHz machine, with the CoRe having an additional salt water mode the Gold lacks. No real difference in capability. The new 19 kHz FORS Gold+ is probably what you want instead as it has that little extra edge over the other two for pulling non-ferrous out of pounded ferrous locations.

My old Compass Gold Scanner Pro would hit coins as deep as anything I have used since. The "more depth" thing has been a joke for decades. if all the machine claims of more and better depth since then had been true we would be detecting dimes at two feet.

...just got posted on my Classifieds. I am not one to do this sort of thing and I kinda sorta apologize but somebody here might be unhappy if they do not see this. Super clean, price looks good, and all the coils available. Not mine but almost wish it was (must resist!)

With XP rods running $264 this looked like a good option for those with a second coil and not wanting to swap out all the time, plus some people like a straight shaft. At $135 delivered on eBay the price is right. I might get one for the new XP coil when it comes out.
The new MD shaft looks interesting also for those wanting an XP style shaft for other detectors. Lower price than XP and moun

Since I got mentioned a couple times (thanks guys!) I will toss in my two cents and make it easy at that. ATX vs TDI if you need waterproof get the ATX, if not TDI. The Minelabs, simply buy the best you can afford. In other words, decide how much you want to spend, then buy the latest model you can find for that amount. However, since the old lead cell batteries age in a poor way, I tend to recom

The machines are not a hoax, but the very first part of the referenced blog that says " indicated the type of a find, its condition and estimated cost?" and the picture are pure speculation and pretty far out speculation at that. The part starting with "Fisher Mosca" and leaked photos from as distributor meeting are in my opinion more accurate.
But I could be wrong.
