I do the same type of hunting for deep silver in parks. I use Park 2 and a recovery speed of 6 (3 on my 600). It seems to give better depth than Park 1.
If you're going to experiment, I'd like to know how 5kHz does on deep silver compared to multi. That should be the best single frequency for silver.

I largely disagree, especially with regard to a fast machine like the Equinox.
The Equinox has made some finds that my Etrac could not have made. These were coins surrounded by iron or other junk. There was nothing psychological or technique related about those additional finds. It was strictly the different capability of the Equinox.
Different detectors have different capabilities. The

I'm a long time Etrac user and recently acquired an Equinox 600. Like the seller of the 600, I hunt for deep silver coins in turf.
I initially wasn't impressed by the depth of the Equinox; however, after experimenting with modes and settings, I seem to be getting comparable depth now. Last weekend I dug a pull tab, with ring attached, at close to 10 inches, hoping it would be a war

Unlike the OP, I am not impressed by the TID on the Equinox. It is much more jumpy and doesn't lock on like an Etrac. The Equinox is still probably a time saver though, because you can swing it faster due to the faster reaction time and light weight.

That is common knowledge. I doubt Tom is under any more restriction

Steve H. is in love with his Equinox; but, he's not a serious coin hunter like you. The coin hunters and beach hunters would really like to know what you think.

Can you recommend a power bank to charge it? I don't like the idea of having to drag the detector to a power outlet and having it sit on the floor, where it mi

It makes perfect sense. The manual is talking about the small dollar coin currently in "circulation." Those coins ring in like a strong quarter signal on my Etrac.

I've paid for an Equinox. If you want an Impact, you'll probably be able to buy a used one for about half the price of an Equinox in the near future.

If the Equinox announcement back in September didn't motivate you to sell, I don't know what would. The number of used detectors that has hit the market since then has been amazing. It's probably the biggest detector dump in history. I doubt used detector prices are going to push higher once the Equinox becomes available.

State representatives don't make federal law, and I don't share your helpless fatalistic view of life BY any means.
Television metal detecting shows have been given access to historical sites that have otherwise been off limits t

This past weekend I took my Etrac to an old baseball diamond. I dug over 50 old coins from six to eight inches deep, mostly wheat cents but also some silver, including a Standing Liberty quarter, plus a couple of Buffalo nickels. None of these coins were textbook signals. They were all either difficult to hear or broken up. I dug anything repeatable that was "deep."
I also dug an

I had both of these coils at one time for my Etrac, but, got rid of the Ultimate. The Ultimate was lighter, but, the Tornado coil hits deep coins better. I've heard that the Ultimate is not waterproof, don't know that with certainty.

The chart is now logically inconsistent. The Etrac and CTX are both 35 X 50 TID, yet the Etrac is four stars and the CTX is five stars. The chart originally just said "Discrimination" wit

I respectfully disagree. If Minelab's marketing department thought this machine was on par with the Etrac and CTX, they'd be shouting about it. The Equinox would be allowed to cannibalize sales of the Etrac and CTX, and those models would be phased out of production.
