Yep, Dave J is a jewell, along with Mike Scott. As far as Tom promoting FM, I'M sure he is secure enough with himself too not get caught up in the silliness. Wish those guys and Monte would join in over here. But we definitely have some of the best now. It's nice too learn something, and not look at pics of clad and hot wheels. ( no offense to anyone meant)

I agree with most of what you say....except when using a sov ion our parks,I always scrub the coil. I know for a fact it has given me that extra bit of depth needed. Now in more irony sites ...demos..I will often raise the coil a liitle. Keep writin,I like readin...

Fbs/bbs is not new. I think some of threes Euro detectors have their users excited. Now if the American company's will focus more on performance, and less on gimmicks and trying to make every detector a general purpose.

Hi Bryana, you may want to.do the mods Critter did too loosen the load. My set up was heavy...had the sunray meter and probe, along with the big 12 inch coil. Never bothered me though, maybe because I'm a roofer.

Are you talking about the silent search mod where you move the pin? I always did that to my sobs, but would still turn up the threashold to hear mulling. Seemed to run smoother and deeper that way.

Hi Critter,I only had a GT for a short period, but had the xs for about a decade. I had acouple explorers, but I like the simplicity and the tones of the Sov soooo much better. And when I hunted withall my explorer buddies,I can never remember checking one of their deep signals that I couldn't hear. I do remember one time, one of the explorer guys wasn't sure if he was getting iron falsin

Hey Critter,do you notice that nickels on the Sov have a certain" bong" ( only way I can describe) to them? Me n my explorer buddy where hitting the same old park for deep silver, and I decided to go for buffalos. Dug only the 138-140,and listened for that distinct bong to it. Maybe it was the s-12 that did it. Worked though,I dug 5 or 6 ugly buffs that day.

Yeah,he seemed like s nice, level headed, very patient and knows what he's talking about. Last post I seen he made,on FM, he had a bunch of dumbasses jumping all over him, cause he didn't day he loved their detector. Shame

Great advice Critter, especially the car window. when I first got the de,it was so different from what I was used to( tesoro),that I swear I was gonna wrap it around a tree. I ended up calling Paul(ca) and asked for tips. Finally it clicked, and it was my main detector for over 10 years. I just recently sold it,going back to beep dig units, but I'm sure I'll get another and try the coils y

Hi Bryanna,I think you'll like the tones better, that's what kepte from going explorer, etrac . What coil do you have
? I used an old ,solid s-12 for depth/ coverage, and a s-5 for seperation in extreme trash. When you get the hang of it,you may wanna check out the coils Critter has mentioned. You may want to try this at the sight you talked of with super deep coins.....put in all metal,a

Try that big def coil and go extremely slow. Like slower than you ever imagined. Investigate any tiny whispers. When I'd do that with a sovereign,it is amazing the amount of coins we where missing, some over 10 inches. It takes the right mindset to go as slow as I mean, and real concentration. Try it you may surprise yourself.

1977 ... Was 12 years old, living in Ft Riley,ls. Me n my buddies where playing football when we saw a guy detecting the grass strip by the sidewalk. So we hovered over the guy and watched him dig alot of old coins. That was it,I had to have one. I mowed lawns untill I saved up $60 and bought the entry level whites...no disc. I used it hard n heavy for a few months till someone stole it. Didn

Man Critter,no offense, but sounds like you let that quarter go cheap. The only coin I sold, was a1891double eagle. Got $900. When gold was around $800 an oz. Been lucky living in Ca, to find several s mint barbers and seateds in the $500 range.
