Doc, easy to miss a note in a flood of information.
As for other posts,I think unemployment insurance is a pretty “centrist” part of our social safety net. I suspect even the Tea Party (RIP) wasn’t against that.

Doc, get better glasses.
The issue is not money, it is that the existing administration for unemployment Bennies can’t cope with the demand backlog. This from Bloomberg.
“ Money’s not the problem, Managing Director Sanna Alamaki said in letters to members sent through April 1. It’s “that the benefit applications can’t be processed and, consequently, money can’t be paid out quickly enough,”

Shakira made a hit with “these hips don’t lie”
By the end of the year we will see “these stats don’t lie”
I hope I’m wrong, but it looks like delay, deny, etc, will cost us a lot of fellow citizens dying alone.
It’s all well and good to argue for your favorite sports star or politician.

It is widely believed that the fall of France in 1940 was basically because if extreme political Division. Leon Blum was a left wing political figure and the saying “Better Hitler than Leon Blum” was apparently common.
When a people begin to hate their enemies more than they love their children - they are doomed.
How about we “ease up” a bit and figure out what our lives will be like after

Corona continues to come through the southern border.
The beer!!!
There was no Corona virus (Covid 19) last summer in humans.

A quote today from you know who..DT
“ I don't believe you need 40,000 or 30,000 ventilators. You know, you go to major hospitals, sometimes they have 2 ventilators."
He really said this today - my pointing this out this is not political - we are at war with a relentless enemy and this is saying we don’t need weapons. I don’t care how many rounds of ammo you have, if you’re have s

Don’t know Goodmore. This has scared the crap out of a lot of companies who blindly offshore their production to China - and made even bigger companies like Apple thoughtful about the “all the eggs in one basket” aspect of their current supply chain.

You guys are way ahead of me! To catch up, I sent your posts to Tom Walsh at FTP and asked him if their facilities in El Paso or Juarez could gin up to produce some components anyway.

The Mayor of El Paso issued a shutdown order of all “non-essential” businesses. First Texas Products - “FTP” (Fisher, Teknetics, Bounty Hunter) is in El Paso. A letter issued by the President of FTP, Tom Walsh.
So it looks like the factory will continue activities for industrial and security products, but the Treasere/Hobby lines will not be open. Working from home, administrative and customer

Actually. I thought that was the case also, but. in fact the aquarium disinfectant and the malaria pill have EXACTLY the same ingredient - Cloroquine Phosphate.
The difference is that the tablets are “buffered” with something so that. A 500mg tablet has only 300mg of the drug in it. Those poor folks consumed somewhere around 5 grams of pure stuff. - a fatal dose.

The fatality rate based on “confirmed cases” will always be high since we only test symptomatic folks. All the non-symptomatic ones aren’t included in the infected total, skewing the rate. One of the many problems of our totally screwing up our testing plans.

The chemical which the couple took chloroquine phosphate is the same substance in the prescription drug mentioned by Trump. One big difference - the tablets are controlled doses - 250 or 500 milligrams and the dose is 1 gram to start and then less to follow up for 3 days
Adults: An initial dose of 1 g (= 600 mg base) followed by an additional 500 mg (= 300 mg base) after six to eight hours and

Steve - couldn’t agree more. My calculation’s only purpose was to put a bit of perspective around claims that lots of folks had CV19 “months” ago and nobody knew it. They were ill, it was not (supposedly) influenza, but that is no reason to suppose it was CV19. If it had been, given the infection rate and even a conservative estimate of the death rate - communities would have noticed.
Sadly, w

Lots of clever folks on this forum. I got interested in the supply chain issues with N95 masks cause I used to do Sourcing for 35 years or so. After wearing myself out reading stuff about non-woven melt blown fabric and the like, I came across folks who are trying to develop alternatives to the N95 masks which are in such desperately short supply. Here are a couple of links which might be of in

I don’t mean to discourage sharing information, but the point of my post was that the doubling rate of Covid 19 is pretty well established. I was feeling pretty smug about my calculations but then had to do some more checking after TN’s reply.
Sure enough, influenza has about the same doubling rate, so there goes my argument......but.

Daniel shared his experience of illness in his church had “months ago” and speculated that it could have been in fact Covid 19. I strongly suspect that it was not likely Covid-19. There are lots of viruses which are poorly understood and identified.
Coved-19 however - is showing an infection rate of doubling of documented cases is on the order of 3 to 10 days in the absence of effective inte

Cal, I read that just before you posted it.
If anyone wants to live in “cloud cuckoo land” they are welcome to - but if they want to live in the real world, the article you posted a link to is a good start.
Of course, if you think it’s all media hype, or just the flu, or that turpentine will protect you - may theLord protect you.

The only countries in the world that have anything which can be called “socialism” are the few broken-down fringes of the old Soviet sphere of influence. Cuba, North Korea and to a degree Venezuela.
China isn’t socialist - the government doesn’t own “the means of production”’ - it is a one-party dictatorship with a strong mixed state owned/capitalist economic system
Russia isn’t socialist -

There is massive competition in the area of consumer products. Across the board price hikes are unlikely. In fact, due to hoarding, once the supply chain has caught up, there will be a large surplus of this stuff and hungry manufacturers will likely cut prices to move product.
We are very likely to have some pretty severe “deflation” as a result of this epidemic. Lots of dead folks who won’t
