Thanks for the input fellows. I can usually figure out how to work mechanical switches, it's when I get involved in electronics that I roll off the log. Being that I think this can be done mechanically, with a toggle switch of sorts, I can "see" what's going on. I have problems trying to understand things that I can't "see"... electronic components that do thi

No problem with warranty... it's an older CZ6a with several mods already. I like the AT Pro's ability to turn on/off the iron audio with the push of a button and having to do so by twisting a knob with your thumb and hoping it only clicks one position on the CZ is a bit tricky at times. With a momentary "on" toggle attached to the underside of the stem, I could quickly turn

I may be able to figure this out in time, but thought I'd ask in case someone else has already been there...
I get iron fatigue in some areas I hunt with the CZ6a/CZ3d and so find myself using disc on "1" and when finding a good repeatable target, will then switch back to "0" to test for iron. It's a little unhandy switching the disc knob so have concidered addin

If you can afford it, I highly recommend Tom's Beach DVD. He uses a CZ in the biggest part of the video and explains about anything you need to know about beach hunting. I have a CZ6a that Tom converted to CZ3d and I did a very simple mod so that it has 4 tones like your CZ3d. If you will be hunting mostly in wet salty sand or shallow salt water, you will set the detector in Sa

I don't think you would put any CZ in salt mode while detecting in fresh water. If it's fresh water, you should be able to p

I don't know if I'm correct on this or not, but I think putting the CZ's in salt mode lowers the ground balance much lower than normal to cancel out the conductivity of salt water, and thus so low (groundbalance) that the detector is limited to the physical size of gold it can detect. I came to this conclusion after reading a lot of Tom's posts on it and noticed it in real ti

One thing I've noticed about rattlesnakes is that the older you get, you begin to loose your hearing and so it becomes harder to reconize the rattle sound they "sometimes" make. My son and I were walking in some woods and came across one that had evidently just shed it's skin as it was brighter in color than usual. It was laying in the path and was easy to spot. It didn'

Looks like a good hunt. Looking at the pics of the area you're hunting, you might want to be very watchful of snakes in there. I've already de-headed two copperheads last week. My brother just did the same for a rattler today, and we rarely ever see a poisnous snake on our properties. Even seeing one if I were detecting would cause me to go elsewhere till it cooled down.
Take care..

I'm in the market for one of the 5" coils for my CZ3d. If anyone has one they would like to part with at a good price please let me know. I've slowed way down on my detecting and need something to get me interested again. I only have the 10.5" coil for mine for hunting the beach. Being that I get to go to the beach once a year, it doesn't get a lot of use. It sounds like

I am in need of a rubber boot that fits over the norman/salt switch of my CZ6a. I've contacted Fisher via email and have never received a reply... 4 or 5 weeks ago. If anyone has a spare for sale, please let me know.

What they said :-)
Kind of like a tang sight on a rifle. You can keep it down low for 50-100 yards, and raise it up for 500-600 yards. You wouldn't raise the tang sight to shoot at a rabbit in your back yard (unless you lived in Texas). It's just a tool to use when the conditions are right and/or needed.
When you're out detecting and not in a hurry, experiment with good ta

Pimento: I'm glad you figured out the tube dimentions. I've been thinking a lot on a straight shaft for my CZ6 and wasn't sure what to use. I read somewhere that someone has used an "elbow crutch" as a straight shaft. It's the crutch that has an arm cuff instead of the usual underarm style. I can find the underarm style around here at Goodwill stores and such, but n

This is an old post but I am still looking to mod a straight shaft for my CZ6a now that I have one.
Therover... looking at your photo again, did you cut off the rear part of the excal shaft? All I have come across are longer in the back behind the arm cuff.
If this is what was done, I would be interested in finding one if anyone has one for sale or trade.

I've heard of some people reversing the coil on the shaft so that the coil points toward you instead of away from you. They say it gives it better balance for the heavier coils. I may try it myself. Other option might be to go to a straight shaft, but they're costly unless you can build it yourself.

Just wondering if Tom or anyone has heard any news about releasing a new detector this summer? I'm sure there's a lot of guys here that would like to at least know if something is coming soon.

My offer of a slightly used plug of Apple Brand chewing tobacco still stands for the CZ7A... if I can find it :-) It tasted pretty good back in '68. Probably aged pretty good by now! You just don't find them like that anymore.
I need some way to block your sell of great detectors. Way too tempting for me :-) Somebody needs to buy this thing quick!

Mickeyd... I'm not familiar with the Whites Eclipse 950, but I have and use the CZ6a plus an AT Pro. I find the CZ6a to be the cats meow on the beach. No having to figure out what the numbers say... there aren't any :-) There is a needle that is used to ID a target and it's pretty darn accurate except for old bent rusty nails. It likes to ID them as a high tone (silver/coins) so

I sure wish someone would jump on this to keep me from being so tempted. I would love to have it but two detectors are my limit right now. I know I'll be sorry later! Maybe I could offer Dan-Pa a slightly used plug of apple brand chewing tobacco :-)
Your price is great Dan-Pa. Hold on and some lucky guy will come to his senses and jump on it.

I don't think you will go wrong witht the F75. It's one of Tom's favorite detectors on dry land. You should watch his first video with him using it. Very informing. It's the next best thing to having a pro stand beside you and show you the in's and out's of detecting. I wouldn't mind having one myself, but would have to find someone willing to take my AT Pro in

May visit some friends in the Virginia Beach area this summer and wondered if anyone here as any good info as to beach areas to hunt. I'll only be there a few days and would like to keep from just driving around looking for a good area to detect. I'll probably be there when low tides are earily mornings and late evenings, so I may catch myself in the dark if I get to having too much fu

Eddie: I would think (usually gets me in trouble) that if you go the CZ3d route, might want to find one that Tom has calibrated that will go 11-12 inches. He places a sticker on the bottom of them as to when he did the calibration and to what depth he was able to air test it to. I had one he worked on and was labeled 11.9". I sold it to a nice guy down in Aussie to get the CZ6a version whi

I purchased a very nice ss water scoop from Colonialmetaldetectors about 2 years ago and have rarely used it. Click the link to see the item at their business...
At my age, I found the scoop a bit too heavy for me, even thou it's lighter than a lot of the stainless steel scoops I see advertised.
If anyone's interested in purchasing, I will sell at $95. They're about $1

Well, whatever Fisher (or someone else) comes out with, it will have to be better than my modded wireless CZ6a which Tom is converting to CZ3d. No one seems to come out with a detector that can beat the CZ's so I just started modding mine to get what I wish they would do. Only thing I can't seem to figure out is how to get the iron volumn mod to work. I like to keep all my mods inter

So it's a depth meter, just not very accurate. Mine was showing at least 2" deeper when sweeping than pin point. ...sometime more, but this was detecting all the thousands of rusty nails there. I forgot to check it on a non-ferrous target as they were few and far between. Will have to experiment with it a little.

Dan will be like the story I once heard about an old man that traveled around selling old violins. He lived alone and would sometimes talk of having a Stradivarius but no one ever saw it. When he hadn't shown up in quiet a while, a couple of concerned friends traveled to his home up in the mountains and found him laying dead on his bed... clutching his priceless Stradivarius!

Hadn't thought of that! Would have made since if it had been the 5 X 8, but it was the stock coil. Are you thinking it's a running depth meter when searching?

The weather warmed up for a few hours Sunday and I took the AT Pro out in hopes of learning a few things. Something I had not noticed before was that the depth meter showed bars while sweeping over targets. My first thought was it was equipted with a running depth meter, but when pin pointing, the depth meter would show a different depth than when just sweeping, even if I was sweeping slowly. I
