Yep, agree wholeheartedly with what others have said! Heck, I go back to all my spots every Spring, and it's almost like hunting a new spot! Look at it this way...
All those coins on edge or juuuuuuust a hair too deep for your detector to pick-up? The thaw moves them even a quarter inch & you can now hear the signal versus before. Also, remember the tree roots. The thaw moves them aro

Good for you Yep, Mother Nature can't keep a good man down, Dan! I'm in NJ only a stones throw from you, and this is one of the worst winters in years. Seems like there's a storm every week or so. And what a great way to cure the winter blues than finding a virgin hunting site! My buddy fluke & I hit a BS camp from the 30's two years ago. Mercs, buffs, rings, stuff was fl

Can't remember where I read it, but, after seeing what amounted to post after post of ridiculously extreme depth claims on a forum years ago (15", 18", etc.) somebody posted that a fisherman must be taking these measurements, lol. Glad this thread was started, as I too have pondered this same thought many times through the years
Here in the NY/NJ area, if you're looking fo

Just watched the ground balance video, Keith. As always, superb reporting
Was always curious to this on your videos...do you have the buried target locations marked off or something? How in the heck do you remember the precise location of everything?! I tried spotting a little marker or similar thing, but, nothing.
Your video made me reconsider Might be picking one of these up for sniffi

Which are better (more stable, more depth) coils, the Excelerators or the Ultimates? If any of you have any depth info or comparisons, that would be super helpful

I HATE when this @#$%& happens! Excuse my French, but, nonsense like this gets me all riled up. While what transpired with the 'cop' is just awful (and you should follow through & try to make his life miserable IMO), what REALLY irks me is the no digging B.S. Here we go again. An innocent hobbyist out looking for coins gets ensnared in a dragnet right outta Miami Vice or something.

I know there's many on here who are fans of the older Troy Shadows. Someone posted a sale ad on my site, TreasureClassifieds.com today. I believe there's two for sale, along with a CTX, an Explorer, a V3i & a few others. Seller seems to need cash to get a GPX 5000. The link to the sellers ad is below:
Just a heads-up guys
I still come here and read the posts everyday. Mos

Guys, this forum means a lot to me, so, wanna give y'all a heads up...
Two CZ's were posted on my site today - TreasureClassifieds.com
One was tuned by Tom (I believe that one sold already), but, there's another one that was just posted, too. I tried a trade on them, however, both owners needed the cash instead. So...
If you're looking for one, might wanna act fast, a

I don't hunt gold/jewelry on land. Too much junk to wade through. I'm more of a silver/old coin guy. Love the history.
Strange occurance today. I got a solid 38 signal on my Safari. Repeatable from every angle. Again, rock solid 38. Depending on depth, it could be a wheat or silver. This was a shallow target though. Just 2 or 3". Decided to dig it anyway since it sounded good. B

Keith, I wish you the best during this difficult time. Physically, your dad may not be with you any longer, however, emotionally, spiritually & mentally, he will ALWAYS be by your side. Do take comfort in that fact. Be well, my friend

Been down the exact same road as you, with the F75. Good machine, but, too jumpy & skitterish for my tastes. EMI was a terror in my urban spots, too. Why pay for all that power when I can't go past 30% of its full sensitivity?! Only ONE brand has it ALL in my dirt...Minelab. Followed closely by the older CZ's. Every other model I've used suffered from one or all of the followin

Guys, here's what I don't get...
There was all this hype leading up to this machine, for what? A new and "improved" PI machine with a telescoping rod?!
I mean, I can't see any coin hunters using this, as who wants to dig down two feet to find a screw or bobby pin?! And as far as relic hunting & water units, there's already standalone units that are tried &a

Wow, that looks like a super machine! Would love to see Keith or Tom do a review/field test on that
Guess the Hodograph is similar to Whites' Spectragraph. Wonder if it's more gimmick or if it actually works. If it DID work, that would be a damn good feature!

Daniel, your experiences with the Pro mirror mine with the Gold 110%!
I didn't get mine for depth, that's what my Safari & CZ are for. I got it for tough iron patches where the ML & CZ go crazy. I've found it SUPER good for that ONE specific application so far, but, for regular old coinshooting (which is my thing), this Gold is the pits. First few times I tried it, it wa

Hmmmmm...
I'm not sure I'd even want a unit that could tell me EXACTLY what was in the ground. First, it would kill the 'surprise factor' of hunting. You know that feeling & thrill one gets when they hear a great signal, and start digging the plug. Is it a merc? A seated? A largie? All that would be gone. Furthermore...
If a detector actually COULD tell you exactly w

Took the Gold out for its first spin today. First impressions are very good. Scored 7 nickels! Two of which were 1945 war nickels. Also scored a 1911 V nickel, a sterling pin & a little clad. Not bad for an initial run. Have a few questions though...
I was running in disc 1, with Iron Audio on throughout my hunt. Had it set at 28.
Depth seemed lackluster. Most of the times the target w

Hmmmmm, so by going all metal while using the iron audio continuously, Keith, I'll get more depth, but, the iron audio will only be revealing the SHALLOW iron, deeper iron will give off a high tone then - meaning, falsing, or just won't be heard?

Guys, my new AT Gold should be here any day now. I'm excited about this one Question...
I normally prefer to run my detector in all metal (if possible) for added depth, to hear what's in the ground, and to avoid nulling on my Safari. So, I'd prefer to run in all metal on the Gold, too, but...
Instead of constantly switching the Iron Audio button on & off each time I get

Decided to pull the trigger on the AT Gold! Picked it up from Rich at Backwoods Detectors...great fella - super deals
Thank you everyone for chiming in! I might have a lot of questions after I get the new unit, so, be prepared, lol.
