Only a bit of fun, my kid was watching me watch some detector 'vs' nail test vids on the racer and asked me if his Tracker could do a nail test?
I said many, but not all of the vids are/can be setup to suit certain detectors, and off we went with the camera lol
With minimum disc on the Bounty Hunter it gets the coin one way, the racer got it but called it iron, coin reads 80

Keith, you can have the best detector in the world at separation/unmasking etc etc and if your targets are 5-8 inch in 3-4 bar soil then you would be well pleased with the racer, but if your looking small targets/coins that have been under the ground for several hundred years and your detector can't get down to the targets to do it's job.......
Im going to try a larger coil on my Racer

Yes Monte it's a very good unit and if you have good ground you'll get good depth, but in my 3-4 bar soil its depth and Tid is very average, 5 to 7 inch on most coins I've tested, deep mode does help clean up the iffy signals though, but in my eyes it's not the magic wand many claim.
Just a point on video tests, if you watch the 'Metal detecting forum' video of the

I've 3 short outings with my R2 in an area i avoided with my etrac as it was too trashy, 6 coins 3 of which were silver.
I really like the R2 so far. My soil was giving 3-4 bars on the scale but i could run max sensitivity, though on a test coin i maxed out at low 6 or so inches and after 3-4 inch the tid was all over the place, it would never follow an etrac on clean ground with the standa

Im getting 3-4 bars on my ground 68-72 ground balance, i can run it max gain 99 no problem, getting 6-7 inch on average size test coin?
Im wondering if a larger coil would be any benefit in my soil?

Cheers Keith, i wasn't running any disc today but had iron volume at 2 or 3, love that feature as the iron is just a little buzz noise and quite happy running max gain on 2 tone.
Do you think the heavy wet ground was the difference, we had about 2 weeks of fine dry weather upto yesterday?

I pulled out a 1820s silver george 1V shilling today, gave a high 80s. Well happy as it's been the best signal yet from the R2.
It rained heavy here overnight and i found the racer ran quieter than yesterday? I can run at 99 gain no problem but im also getting 3 to 4 bars on the mineral scale which was giving me about 6 inch depth at most on a few test coins i buried?

I like this guy, says what he sees, not everyone agrees with him but it's his interpretation of the situation and he should be allowed that, as long as it's kept factual'ish' and not in your face insulting etc
At some stage many of us get sucked in to hype no matter the sport, hobby etc and it can take a fresh set of eyes to bring a bit of that hype into touch and get us out

Im thinking along the lines of the information that they give on targets, the R2 at depth gives no Tid and i believe the deus may be the same, is there enough info coming back in the 2 tone audio for a dig don't dig etc?
I've loads of ground available to detect going back to the 12th century or older, much of it is virgin to a detector and what has been done has been with minelab fbs

Also wanted to do a shout out to Craig of Show Me Treasure. I pre-ordered a R2, and he went out of his way to get the unit to me before the weekend as I had a detecting window and he delivered! When I opened the unit, it quickly became clear that the detector had been used. After some checkingh around, it turned out to be no fault of Craigs at all, the manufacturer had inadvertently mixed some fi

Checked with a main dealer this morning and they said they have no delivery date but hope to have stock in the next 2-3 weeks, all too vague a reply for me, so order cancelled and I'm off on friday to the local dealer to buy off the shelf!

Certainly not doubting the sales of the R2 in the US, maybe the updated features are more desirable in the US than in the UK like notch etc?
The etrac/ctx3030 might not suit everyone, it's horses for courses, very desirble in the UK!

Just an observation but where i ordered my R2, the seller has i think 192 available and around 8 sold, thats why i wondering if the R2 is not enough of an upgrade for R1 owners in the UK and there holding out for the Impact??

Not noticed the same rush to pre-order the R2 compared to the original racer, is everyone holding off for the Impact??
I didn't buy the original racer but have ordered the R2, but im hoping the Impact will be such a different beast to the R2 that I'll need it too lol
If it has minelab style multi frequency, and deus style selectable frequency at the right price point it will be on my

Thanks, i take it that is shipment to the dealers, guessing is another week on top of that then? My dealer had the delivery quoted as 14th so i doubt that he was telling porkies!
